It is difficult enough to cope with a diagnosis of cancer without the added burden of financial stress that can occur as a result. Kickin’ Cancer Support (KCS) is a subsidiary program of Kickin’ Cancer in Redwood Falls. KCS offers financial assistance to help with expenses during care and treatment. If eligible, you are able to receive up to $1,500 per calendar year for covered expenses.
Who is eligible?
Kickin’ Cancer Support program (KCS) is only for people who are currently receiving care for cancer. No exceptions can be made to this guideline. Active treatment includes chemotherapy, radiation, bone marrow transplant, surgery, lymphedema, cording, hospice, or palliative care. You must live in or near Redwood County.

What does the financial assistance program cover?
Kickin’ Cancer Support program (KCS) supports basic living expenses and out-of-pocket medical expenses including supplies or equipment that can be covered by the fund.
All gifts will be paid directly to the company/business on behalf of the patient or the patient’s parents when the patient is a minor.
- Mortgage Payment (or partial payment)
- Utility bills; heat, electricity, water/sewer, waste management
- Out-of-Pocket Medical Expenses
- Wigs or head pieces
- Fitness Membership
- Individual or Family Counseling
- KCS Funds cannot be used to make credit card payments or give cash to the patient.
Checklist for the application
Before you can be considered for financial assistance, please be sure that you have included all of the following information. Failure to include the information will result in delays.
Completed patient application
Copies of bill(s) or online statement(s) for payment. Do not send originals!
- If the request is for a rent payment, a copy of the lease (including the landlord’s name and phone number) must be included.
- If the bill is paid electronically, a copy of the online statement must be included, along with the company name and billing address.
- The bill to be paid must be in the name of the patient or guardian (joint accounts are acceptable, as long as the patient or guardian is named on the bill).
- KCS cannot be used to make credit card payments and will not contact a creditor on behalf of a patient to discuss terms or guarantee payment.
How long does the
process take?
Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted. All applications will be reviewed individually, and the final determination will be made by the KCS committee. All information reviewed is confidential. If approved, a confirmation letter with a copy of payment made will be mailed to the applicant. If the application is denied, a letter of explanation will be sent, and if further information is needed it will be noted in the correspondence.
Please allow approximately three weeks for the financial assistance check to be processed. A check will be issued and mailed directly to the creditor. A check cannot be made out to an individual. We are not able to process online payments.
The KCS Committee reserves the right to make exceptions to the guidelines with the exception of providing funds exclusively to cancer patients.
