Our mission at Kickin’ Cancer in Redwood County is to provide assistance to cancer patients with funds raised and distributed locally throughout Redwood County. We work to help those going through their cancer journey to feel relief and know they’re not alone. We work to make an impact and grow resources for cancer patients and their caregivers throughout the area. We work to help make things better for our neighbors, friends and family.
2023 Contributions
This year we have decided to support three initiatives in addition to our financial assistance program and our blessings bags. Funds are raised primarily through our annual fundraising event that’s held each summer along with a few additional fundraisers throughout the year.
American Cancer Society – $7,500
Even though Kickin’ Cancer has gone local and does not send all the money we raise in Redwood County to Relay for Life (American Cancer Society), we still support cancer research as that work continues to benefit not only cancer patients across the nation but cancer patients in our backyard. Each year we donate a portion of what is raised to the American Cancer Society for cancer research. In 2023, $7,500 was donated.
Hope Lodge – $2,500
Each year Kickin’ Cancer in Redwood County donates a portion of what is raised to the Hope Lodge in Rochester, Minnesota. We know many people who are able to take advantage of staying at the Hope Lodge, which is 100% free to those who stay. This facility provides cancer patients with comfort during the time they have to stay for treatments with a much more homey feel than a hotel.
CentraCare – Redwood Cancer Center – $2,500
We donate annually to the cancer center in Redwood County and fulfill a wish list need or want for cancer patients. The first year we provided headphone sets for patients so each could watch TV and hear well while receiving their treatments.
Donations from last year and this year are combined as the wish list item is quite large. The plan is for the Redwood Cancer Center to purchase a Vein Finder machine (additional funds may be needed). This will dramatically help the comfort of patients receiving treatments as the vein finder will help clinicians quickly and accurately locate veins.
