Three women and a boy at the Kickin' Cancer Event

Hi, my name is Sara Schultz.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 31. It was November nineteenth of 2019. I finished chemotherapy in May of 2020. I am now cancer free - praise the Lord, sweet Jesus!

I just want to quickly share how much Kickin’ Cancer here in Redwood County has meant to me.

A lot of the volunteers that you see at the Kickin’ Cancer event are actually my family. This is because my family has been impacted by cancer a lot. I’ve had melanoma on my foot, actually, it was the same year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I’ve had an uncle who was diagnosed with melanoma. I’ve had an aunt who was diagnosed with colon cancer. The whole gamut, the list goes on and on and on.

I swear to you that being diagnosed with cancer isn't a sob story for everybody. Sometimes it’s so uplifting. It really brings people together; you share hugs, you share stories.

Throughout the whole entire cancer treatment season, Kickin’ Cancer has been there for my family. I am so thankful for not only what they have done for me, but what they have done for my family, and for the community of people who have carried the burden of the diagnosis of cancer.

Thank you so much to them. Come join us to volunteer and have a good time!
